GENERAL

  1. What is the mission of the Robertson Foundation for Government?

    The mission of the Robertson Foundation for Government (RFFG) is to identify, educate and inspire the best and brightest U.S. graduate students who are committed to pursuing long-term federal government careers in foreign policy, national security and international affairs in order to strengthen the federal government and its capacity to recruit and retain top-level talent.

  2. Who funds RFFG?

    RFFG is a private foundation founded by the family of the late Charles and Marie Robertson to honor their legacy.

  3. Does RFFG have a geographical focus?

    No. RFFG seeks to inspire the best and brightest graduate students throughout the country. Those receiving scholarship funding from RFFG must be U.S. citizens.

  4. Does RFFG have a political focus? Is it affiliated with a political party?

    No. RFFG is not a political organization and its board members have diverse political affiliations.

  5. What are its views on terrorism? Globalization? Trade?

    RFFG does not take positions on any issues, but believes that the federal government’s needs and challenges have never been greater because of these and other issues.

  6. Who runs RFFG?

    RFFG is run by a family board. The family board receives counsel from a distinguished independent Advisory Board.

PROGRAMS

  1. What are RFFG’s primary funding interests?

    RFFG’s funding is focused on identifying, educating and inspiring the best and brightest U.S. graduate students who are committed to pursuing long-term federal government careers in foreign policy, national security and international affairs in order to strengthen the federal government and its capacity to recruit and retain top-level talent.

  2. Do I have to attend a particular college or university to qualify for RFFG support?

    Yes. RFFG will be working with a number of select colleges and universities in developing Robertson Fellowships. (A list of participating institutions will appear as formal agreements are developed.)

  3. Can I apply directly to RFFG for a grant or scholarship?

    No. You must apply directly to the colleges and universities working with RFFG. (A list of participating institutions will appear as formal agreements are developed.)

  4. Does the foundation work with undergraduate as well as graduate students?

    At this time, RFFG is working only with graduate students.

  5. Do RFFG grants and fellowships come with strings attached?

    Yes. Students who become Robertson Fellows are required to work for the Federal Government for 3 of the first 5 years after graduation and are required to have a proficiency in foreign language upon graduation.

  6. Does RFFG work with the government to place program alumni in jobs?

    The Robertson Foundation plans to assist Robertson Fellows with securing relevant internships and jobs within the Federal Government.
